I am awake now.
I think I was dreaming.
I was behind at work and rattling around in my dream again, when my mind started to merge with the stillness of the night.
I hear dogs snoring lightly and my heart beating fast.
I inhale the hush.
I slowly open my eyes, and gradually the room illumed by moonlight comes into view.
It’s still dark. Go back to sleep, I tell myself.
I close my eyes, hoping that I can fall back into slumber.
A few moments pass and my mind starts, reciting the story that I have been writing.
I should tighten this part up. I should change this sentence. What is another word for “immobile”?
I quickly open my eyes and quietly get out of bed.
I then cautiously walk towards the desk.
I am awake now.
I open my computer to write, lulling my mind to sleep.

  1. There is such perfect sadness in this, it breaks my heart. You transmute your suffering into diamonds, and that truly is an inspiration to me, and to others in my household. Please keep writing, we want more! Peace.
