“Ha! Michelle posted a comment. ‘Get well soon.’ That’s original,” Ashley sneered, looking down at her iPhone.

“Pam is ‘praying for me.’ Doesn’t she know I don’t pray? Christina sent a sticker blowing kisses. I guess she didn’t know what to say.”

“You are bitter today,” Ashley’s mom, who was sitting next to her, looked at her daughter’s face.

“They might not know what to say or do, but they are your friends and think of you.”

Ashley said nothing more but sniffled when a nurse called her name.

  5. Sweet. But sometimes it does feel that people are being hypocrites. That they don’t care.
    Actually, most people care but don’t know how to handle it. Like me!
