A monster tramped in the falling snow, growling and devouring everything in its path, wiping out the reminders of civilization and leaving rubble and grime before returning to the sea.
Familiar scenes vanished and became memories, tears were shed until no more, and resilience was imposed to persevere.
Today, the sea is calm while, on the shore, a different type of varmint rages on, and people wearing masks put their hands together silently, keeping appropriate distances from each other, and bow their heads in remembrance.
I couldn’t help but write about the massive earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Written for Friday Fictioneers – 12 March 2021 and Three Line Tales – week 267.

Love this a lot 🙂

I just read an article about the earthquake, tsunami and aftermath. Such horrible events. i doubt if anyone would have guessed what 10 years later would bring!

Horrible indeed. I, for one, did not foresee the pandemic!

You illustrate how fragile life can be, despite advance technology in the world, nature has its own way.

Ten years ago, the tsunami. One year ago, the declaration of a pandemic. I liked the connection you made between the two

I don’t “like” what happened, Nelkumi, but you have described it beautifully and clearly. Heart-breaking.

I don’t “like” it either, Ms. Linda. I wrote what I could. Thank you for your encouraging words.

The sea was just the slave of nature’s power, but it took so many innocents that day. I applaud you for writing this.

I was reading yesterday about a Japanese man who learned to dive so he could search for his wife’s body. He’s still looking.

Has 10 years gone by already 😦 I like how you compare the earthquake and covid as two kinds of monsters that leave devastation in their wake.
