dreams do come true

I was a wide-glowing-eyed dreamy girl. I wanted to save the world, help people, be a good Samaritan.

My first dream was to run an orphanage. The cartoon I was reading had a great impact on me. For a while after that, when someone asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I immediately answered, “Doctor.” I had watched a TV program that showed the borderless doctors in foreign lands. When I started the junior high, I wanted to be a teacher. A teacher for children with special needs, just like the teacher whom I knew. Being a cartoonist and a writer came next.IMG_0415

As I grew up, I became aware of the reality and the requirements to obtain any of those dreams. When I realized that my family couldn’t support me going to college, I ended up doing what I saw fit. I dumped all that and got an office job at the local company.

Three decades, several jobs, and a few places later, I am in the jungle with two dogs that my husband brought. I have taught them to obey, have taken care of my husband when he was sick, and have posted some stuff that I scribbled.

I’d say that I am pretty close to what I envisioned.

子供の時にみた夢って、叶うものなのかな。

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Futures Past.”
“As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? How close or far are you from that vision?”

  1. Do you write/draw books? This one reminds me a bit of a book I used to own about princess kaguya. The art work was in a somewhat similar style. I’d look at it for hours straight. I could do the same with your work. It’s really good!
